Giroud scored the winning penalty in the Community Shield last Sunday and, having finished last season with the best goalscoring ratio of any Arsenal striker, continued that form by coming on last night to clinch victory in a dramatic seven-goal thriller.

Groans could be heard around the Emirates soon after when Okazaki glanced a header wide, but those groans turned into cheers on the brink of half time as Welbeck rolled home after being picked out by Kolasinac alongside him.

Vardy's second goal, a towering header from a corner-kick, looked to have won it for the Foxes until the sensational finale that saw the game swing in Arsenal's favour.

Substitute Aaron Ramsey slammed home and 83rd minute equaliser before Olivier Giroud met Granit Xhaka's corner to win the season opener.

Giroud then sent the previously despondent Arsenal fans wild when he headed the 85th minute victor from a corner, Leicester keeper Kasper Schmeichel only managing to turn the ball onto the underside of the bar before it bounced over the line.

Besides that, today the area of interest will be how India's own chinaman Kuldeep Yadav bowls on a pitch offering slow turn. For Sri Lanka , Pushpakumara scalped 3 wickets , while Sandakan took 2 wickets and Fernando one.

Arsenal appeared a step behind defensively, ceding possession nearly uncontested at moments, and Marc Albrighton would make them pay, jumping on a misplayed ball from Arsenal and sending a handsome cross to Jamie Vardy who would put it away to give Leicester City their first lead of the campaign. In the end he chose to stay and it was one of the great days of recent weeks for me.

"It is fantastic", Wenger replied when asked about Giroud's willingness to fight for his place. "I know how important he is not only as a player but also in the group".

"He doesn't want to leave and I'm happy he wants to stay".

It's only the second time in eight seasons that Arsene Wenger's side have secured three points in their opening fixture.

"I feel as well that the goals we conceded, we can work together to get rid of that because one was a ball we lost in the build-up and we conceded two goals on corners".
