"Motorcycle use spikes in the summer, and the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is a popular destination for riders and other motor vehicle drivers alike", said Col. Scott Hernandez, chief of CSP.

Summer is always prime time for heavy motorcycle traffic as bike enthusiasts head to South Dakota for the favored event. State transportation officials expect up to 600,000 bikers to attend.

The goal of the campaign is to bring awareness to motorcycle safety, as we see an increase in motorcycles traveling through the state of Wyoming.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol was dispatched around 6 p.m. August 3 for a motorcycle accident on US 14A near Sperry.
