Coutinho going nowhere - Liverpool

11 August, 2017, 14:38 | Author: Joan Malone

"The club's definitive stance is that no offers for Philippe will be considered", Fenway Sports Group said in a short statement, "and he will remain a member of Liverpool Football Club when the summer window closes".

Philippe Coutinho has stunned Liverpool by handing in a transfer request hours after the club's owners insisted the "definitive stance" is that he will not be sold, according to reports.

It comes a day after Borussia Dortmund said it had turned down a bid from Barcelona for France forward Ousmane Dembele, who subsequently missed a training session with the German club.

Sources told ESPN FC on Wednesday that Liverpool had rejected a second bid from Barca worth up to €100 million.

Sky Sports News understands Barcelona are prepared to pay up to £110m for Coutinho and pundit Guillem Balague believes the Catalan side will continue their pursuit.

"He has back problems", Klopp said.

Liverpool announce 32-man squad for Champions League play-off round
Sites to bet on soccer are now keen to see how the German coach will improve the odds of the Anfield club with the new players. So what are the similarities to last season? Derby's all I've known for the last 10, 15 years, as a club and a place.

Manager Jurgen Klopp has recently reiterated that Liverpool are under no pressure to sell their best players and remained confident that Coutinho would remain a Reds player come the beginning of September.

Barcelona's follow-up bid came after the Merseyside club first rejected a £72m offer for the Brazil worldwide last month.

The irony is that Spurs are likely to be even more hard to deal with than Liverpool, especially since Eriksen signed a four-year contract extension in September 2016.

"From a financial standpoint, there is no price limit to let him go".

Liverpool sold Luis Suarez to Barcelona in 2014, after the Uruguay striker pushed for a move away from Anfield. So we want to keep our guys and add new ones. So what they pay in the end doesn't matter.
