  • Zakir Musa

The chief of al-Qaeda's Kashmir unit Zakir Musa is reportedly trapped by security forces in Tral in south Kashmir's Pulwama sector.

Musa remained the prime target of security forces after he was appointed the successor of Hizbul Mujahidin post killing of Burhan Wani. Despite clashes, the search operation continued in the area. But the clashes ceased after some time and stone pelters dispersed without further disturbing the anti-terror forces, the police sources said.

The report said people have taken to the streets and staged protests in the area of the operation.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that Zakir Musa was also trapped in Noorpora.

Kansas ties to Chiefs vs. 49ers game
His pressure against the right guard almost resulted in a sack and instead it produced an interception by Rashard Robinson. Heading into their first preseason game, the San Francisco 49ers will travel to go up against the Kansas City Chiefs .

The clashes followed the Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) of forces after input about the presence of militants in the area.

The al Qaeda's claims of making inroads in Kashmir could potentially open a new front in the valley, which is witnessing a spurt in militant activities and civilian protests since the killing of Hizbul commander Burhan Wani a year ago.

Zakir Musa broke off from Hizbul after declaring that the militancy in Kashmir was to set up a Caliphate.

The development comes days after security forces shot dead three terrorist from the newly announced Jammu and Kashmir wing of al-Qaeda led by Musa.
