Seven Florida football players, including leading receiver Antonio Callaway, have been suspended for the team's opener against MI.

Callaway has had trouble with suspensions since he first joined the Gators three seasons ago.

Callaway's possible suspension has been a hot topic since his May 13 citation for marijuana possession while he was a passenger in the auto with Kendrick Williams, a 40-year-old Gainesville man with a history of brushes with the law. A source close to the program revealed the information to the Associated Press, but spoke anonymously because details of the suspensions have not been made public by the school.

In Spring 2016, Callaway was part of a Title IX investigation as part of an alleged sexual assault case that resulted in him being suspended from campus while the investigation was ongoing. It was the first off-the-field offense for each player since joining the team. Davis has appeared in 17 games on the defensive line, including five starts last season. The defensive line depth will be the thing hurt most by the suspensions, outside of losing their best receiver.

Most of all, he hopes that he can repeat what he has done at his previous clubs and win the league in his second season. Meanwhile, Mourinho praised Lukaku after the match against Real Madrid, and he is likely to start upfront.

The Florida Gators will be without possibly their best player in their huge season opener against the Michigan Wolverines. Telfort, a true freshman, has been considered a potential contributor.

"Physically, he's done a great job", McElwain said of Telfort on Friday. And it's really seemed to elevate his game as far as knowing what the look is and now knowing what the assignment is. The school did not state why the players are being suspended. Miller, Houston and Smith are first-year defenders.

Speaking Aug. 3 at the team's media day, McElwain did not anticipate anyone would miss the season opener.
