The Nintendo Switch has been praised on its unique take as a gaming tablet, and while it certainly isn't the first gadget to utilize this concept, it's just gotten a lawsuit for its overall design.

According to Engadget, the lawsuit was filed by the accessories company called Gamevice who offered the Android gaming tablet known as the Wikipad.

In Gamevice's suit, the company claims that the removable Joy-Con controllers for the Nintendo Switch are too similar to Gamevice's own solution for detachable game controllers. There are two analogue sticks, a D-Pad and four action buttons with a display in the middle but that's really the extent of it. The drawing you see above does show a tablet-like device with detachable controller section, though. Joy-Cons can also be used separately, while unattached from the Switch.

Gamevice has demanded that Nintendo pay damages for the infringement, and has requested a ban of all Switch sales - something that would have a massive impact on the Nintendo's revenue stream.

It's apparent that both devices have a lot in common and have a lot of differences, but it will ultimately be up to the courts to decide whether Gamevice actually has a case against Nintendo.

FACT CHECK: Is The Nuclear Arsenal 'Stronger Than Ever'?
There were no indications from the Pentagon of urgent planning or new assets being hastily deployed to the Pacific region. The threatened attack near Guam, if carried out, would be the North's most provocative missile launch to date.

The Switch launched in March and has sold 4.7 million units by Nintendo's latest count.

In October past year, Nintendo announced a new home gaming console, the Nintendo Switch.

Engadget reported that Gamevice declined to comment on the lawsuit.

The Nintendo Switch will also be getting more games from publisher/developer Capcom.

The chances of Gamevice's lawsuit being successful seems pretty unlikely.
