Pompeo also defended President Donald Trump's warning that North Korea, which has been in conflict with the United States since the start of the Korean War in 1950, would face "fire and fury" if it issued any more threats to the USA, comments that were widely criticized last week as overheated and interpreted by some as threatening a preemptive nuclear attack.

In an early-morning Twitter post, Mr. Trump used language to suggest that military forces were on the edge of action against the government of Kim Jong-un, which has demonstrated rapid progress in its nuclear program in recent months and threatened to launch missiles toward the American territory of Guam in response to the president's earlier warning. "President Trump has made it clear that it is his intention to protect the American people".

Long-standing tensions over North Korea's nuclear programme worsened when it tested two intercontinental ballistic missiles in July.

"Each time they test another missile, or if they should conduct a nuclear weapons test, they develop expertise".

Friday: The US president warns that military solutions are "locked and loaded" should North Korea "act unwisely".

Donald Trump in particular has promised "fire and anger" at North Korea.

Writing on Twitter, she said: "There should be no place in society for racism, white supremacy and neo-nazis". He went on to criticise the influence of Steve Bannon and the Breitbart website in the Trump administration.

North Korea's regime condemned the newly imposed United Nations sanctions, while refusing to negotiate over its nuclear weapons and vowing to make the USA "pay a price" for its "hostility".

Before that, however, North Korea's military announced it was working on a plan to "contain" the U.S. air, naval, and missile bases on the Pacific island of Guam by firing four intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBMs) to "envelop" it.

Mike Pompeo, the director of the Central Intelligence Agency, said Sunday that North Korea had developed "at an alarming pace" his ability to launch a nuclear attack against the United States, but was keen to get a sense of the imminence of a military confrontation with Pyongyang.

A USA nuclear expert has warned that Kim Jong-un might be coming closer to being able to produce a hydrogen bomb, also known as thermonuclear weapon, as it is able to produce tritium, a key element. As North Korea continues to threat United State by its nuclear testing program. "We call on the relevant parties to be cautious with their words and actions, and contribute more toward easing tensions and enhancing mutual trust", Geng said in a statement.

He said, "I think India's could help everyone, they could help North Korea to understand the seriousness of the situation".

"The United States military is always locked and loaded", he said.
