Staff Reporter GUWAHATI, Aug 11 - Mukesh Pandey, a 29-year-old IAS officer serving as the district magistrate (DM) of Bihars Buxar district, allegedly committed suicide by coming under a train in Ghaziabad on Thursday evening.
"Police officers found a note next to the body in which was written", committing suicide of my own volition. My suicide note is kept in a Nike bag in room 742 of the Leela Palace Hotel in Delhi! "We immediately reached at the district centre but found nothing", a police officer was quoted by India Today. Police found a suicide note with details of his family members who need to be contacted after his demise. "Body has been sent for post mortem which would be conducted on Friday", he said.
According to government railway police sources, the 2012 batch IAS officer's body was recovered a kilometre away from Ghaziabad GRP police station area.
Before serving in Bihar's Buxar, Pandey had worked in Begusarai's Ballia sub-division as an SDM (sub-divisional magistrate) and in Bihar's Katihar as a DDC. His body was recognised by the identification cards found in his pockets, as his head was separated from his body.
The police was informed about his plans to commit suicide by his friends, who had received a message from Pandey stating that he was going to commit suicide. "I strongly suspect that Mukesh Pandey had not committed suicide but was murdered". However, when the police reached the location, Pandey had apparently left. Following which, he took a flight to New Delhi via Varanasi.

He is reportedly survived by wife and three months old daughter. After IAS, he was married to a large businessman in Patna.
