Trump doubled down Thursday, saying his previous bold statements might not have been "strong enough" for Kim Jong Un, whose regime announced a plan to fire four missiles near the US island territory of Guam in response to the White House's bold rhetoric.
The call came after Mr. Trump unleashed a slew of fresh threats against North Korea on Friday, declaring the US military "locked and loaded" and warning North Korean leader Kim Jong-un that he "will regret it fast" if he takes any action against USA territories or allies. On Thursday, Trump said his original statement "wasn't tough enough". I mean, his rhetoric might make Kim Jong-un think that he needs to strike first.
"As Donald Trump and North Korea's Kim Jong-un trade threats and tensions escalate, the danger is growing". I'd say he's being incredibly irresponsible and he's putting us in a situation where you could have an accidental launch.
A White House statement said Trump and President Emmanuel Macron had discussed "the increasingly risky situation associated with North Korea's destabilising and escalatory behaviour".
