"But I respect you as a man and you can do your thing".

Lynch was in uniform but did not play in the game, and photos show Lynch sitting on a cooler and holding a banana while the anthem played.

Another season, another controversy surrounding the national anthem.

Lynch has only talked to the media once since coming out of retirement and being acquired in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks last spring, and that was in the offseason program. The coach said he spoke to Lynch and was told this is nothing new for the running back.

He left the Raiders locker room before it was open to the media.

"I talked to Marshawn to make sure we're on the same page", Del Rio said after a 20-10 loss to the Cardinals at University of Phoenix Stadium.

"You always need this kind of performance", Stanton said, after completing 11-of-15 passes for 112 yards and a touchdown.

Ambassador Nikki Haley "has [gained] diplomatic traction" and "is gaining diplomatic results", according to the BBC. The North was responding to Trump's threat in a statement from its military carried by state-run news agency KCNA.

Raiders quarterback E.J.

Arians said quarterbacks coach Byron Leftwich "did a really nice job" calling plays for the first time, and the way the Cardinals' offense did reflected that, especially early.

NO CARR: Carr had been expected to see his first action since breaking his right leg in a game last Christmas Eve, but Del Rio chose to have his starter sit out the opener.

Lynch has yet to see live National Football League game action since the 2015 season and was just one of a litany of projected Raiders starters who were held out of Saturday's 20-10 Week 1 preseason loss.

Two of the Raiders' top defensive players, All-Pro defensive end Khalil Mack and linebacker Bruce Irvin, joined Carr and Lynch as spectators.

"It was my decision", Del Rio said.
