  • Marvel adaptation Silver and Black has set for 2019

Sony has set a date for the spin-off film set in the Spider-Man universe "Silver and Black". Meanwhile, the release dates for Barbie and Bad Boys 3 have been shuffled around along with a few more projects in the coming years.

According to Deadline, Sony has officially scheduled a release date for their Silver Sable/Black Cat team up movie, now officially dubbed Silver and Black, for February 8, 2019.

Silver and Black was written by Chris Yost (Thor: The Dark World) and though plot details are scarce, it will obviously be about some mix of the two popular Spider-man foes, one of which is a mercenary, the other a skilled burglar.

Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 inched down less than 0.1 percent to finish at 19,729.74. Sydney's S&P-ASX 200 gained 0.5 percent to 5,773.70 while New Zealand also rose.

In the comics, Silver Sable is the leader of the Wild Pack, a group that hunts war criminals. Venom is the first film in this still-untitled Marvel Universe Sony is starting to create that centres on Spider-Man villains, but doesn't contain Spider-Man. Do you think that Sony is confident in their new spinoffs?

Columbia Pictures also confirmed that Anne Hathaway will star in Barbie (news she was in talks for the role broke last month) and has moved the film back a few weeks to August 8, 2018 (it was previously set for June 29, 2018). Alethea Jones is still set to direct with Anne Hathaway playing the title doll from Mattel. Benicio del Toro and Josh Brolin return for the film, this time directed by Stefano Sollima. The film, which hopes to re-team Martin Lawrence and Will Smith, had previously been scheduled for November 9, 2018, but the release has now been pushed to an unknown date. Unfortunately, they won't have an official new Spider-Man movie to help them, but maybe Venom will work out for them instead.
