  • Turkey begins building border wall with Iran

The Turkish military's leadership has seen substantial reshuffling in the past few days, but the focus seems to be the same: fighting Kurds.

Across the border from the province of Kilis lies an area of northwest Syria that is controlled by the YPG, which is Washington-backed but deemed a terror group by Ankara.

Turkey considers the YPG as the Syrian arm of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), which has waged an over three decade insurgency against the Turkish state.

A series of row has risen up between Turkey and its North Atlantic Treaty Organisation ally the USA on the legalization of Syria's Kurdish military groups, mainly PYD and its force branch People's Protection Units (YPG).

The video shows YPG fighters lying on a concrete platform and then firing an anti-tank missile at the tank. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan today suggested that such a move could be happening in Syria very soon.

Recent clashes have centered around the Arab towns of Tal Rifaat and Minnigh, near Afrin, which are held by the Kurdish YPG and allied fighters.

The YPG also released other videos showing their forces firing 122 mm rockets from Russian-made BM-21 Grad systems at Turkish rebels in northern Syria, Military Times said.

"We would rather pay the price for spoiling plans against our future and liberty in Syria and Iraq rather than on our own soil", Erdogan said.

"With this new structure, some steps will be taken to be more active in the struggle against terror", an anonymous Turkish government source told Reuters.

He said that the United States resorting to cooperation with the Kurdish militias to confront the ISIS terrorist organization is a "grave" mistake. "A structure that acts according to the realities of the region will be formed".

Turkey, however, has adopted an increasingly angry tone in public communications with its North Atlantic Treaty Organisation partners, raising fears in Washington of a potential split in the organization. Currently, Turkey is at the final stage of reinforcing the Syrian border with a 559-mile long wall.
