Giaccio may not get paid the standard $8 he gets for mowing lawns, but an A-plus from the president of the United States is worth a whole lot more.

The boy, named Frank, says he started his own business, mowing neighbors' lawns in Falls Church, Virginia.

It is unclear what Giaccio and the president chatted about when Trump strolled over to check on the work.

Frank began mowing in the Rose Garden at around 9.30am (1.30pm GMT).

But Sanders offered Twitter audience a look at the mower Frank was using, adding that he was "doing a great job".

The young entrepreneur normally charges $8 per lawn, but he made a decision to give the White House a freebie.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders originally read Frank's letter during a press briefing in early August.

Trump called Giaccio, who wants to be a Navy SEAL, "the future of this country" and commended him on a job well done.

"We're lucky", Trump said after watching Frank for a few minutes.

Huckabee Sanders said Trump would hire the boy, and also offer him a tour with White House groundskeepers, who would show him what it takes to maintain 18 acres of park.

Trump introduced Frank to the assembled media and then invited him (and his father) into the Oval Office.

The President later joined Frank as he trimmed the Rose Garden's grass.

The tweet included video highlights of FX's White House visit - complete with a photo of him posing with his elbows on the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office next to Trump.
