Chicago Teen Kenneka Jenkins Cops Release Hotel Video Before Dying in Freezer

  • Lawyer: Video released to Kenneka Jenkins' family does not show her walking into freezer

Earlier Thursday, representatives for the Crowne Plaza Hotel said they have released 36 hours of surveillance video from 40 different cameras to police.

The mystery of Kenneka Jenkins' death took another twist Friday morning, as her family attorney said Rosemont police have not sent them any video of the 19-year-old woman entering a walk-in freezer at the hotel where she was found dead.

On her way to join protesters outside the hotel on Thursday, Jenkins' mother, Tereasa Martin, posted to Facebook Live and told protesters to remain peaceful.

According to Newsweek, Rosemont police reported Wednesday that they had interviewed some 12 people who were involved in the incident, including eight individuals who were with Jenkins before her disappearance.

Jenkins was finally found in the walk-in freezer and pronounced dead just before 1 a.m. Sunday. Many said they want to see the video from the hotel. It's unclear why Jenkins went to the basement, but relatives said police told them she appeared to be inebriated.

However, Jenkins' family is pushing back, saying later Thursday that they were misrepresented by activists who had called for the news conference.

Holmes also told the station that Jenkins appeared to be lost as she stumbled and tried to open several doors. She then wandered around and eventually walked into the kitchen area and then into the freezer. He said she may have thought the walk-in freezer was an exit.

A developer could give their customers the option of uninstalling certain features to help reduce the size of a game's download. With only the required assets being downloaded, precious hard drive space will be saved and download times will be cut short.

After news of her death broke, a social-media firestorm erupted, with some people suggesting Jenkins fell victim to foul play. "But what I need for you to do is to call for the citizens of Chicago to be out here every day until she gets justice she deserves".

Rosemont police say the investigation is a top priority.

"Our hearts go out to Kenneka's mother, her family and friends", the spokesperson said. She said she hadn't seen the video herself, but planned to watch it with her lawyer, Larry Rogers. But he said the family is awaiting toxicology tests to see whether narcotics had been put into her drink.

Additionally, the Crowne Plaza Hotel offered to pay for Jenkins' funeral.

Jenkins' family has said she left her home on the West Side of Chicago around 11;30 p.m. Friday.

According to Holmes, the video that he viewed showed Jenkins wandering around the area seemingly disoriented.

Holmes said he can't comment on all of the video he reviewed because police are still working on the case. The medical examiner's office has performed an autopsy but has said more tests are needed before it can pronounce a cause of death - a finding that could be weeks away.
