  • Jimmy Kimmel offers Stephen Colbert advice for hosting the Emmys

A British queen, a group of nerdy kids, a defiant handmaiden and a heart-tugging trio of siblings vie for the top prize on Sunday when the Primetime Emmy Awards will crown the best in a booming era of television. She was nominated for a Golden Globe for this same role.

ER's pilot "Love's Labor Lost" took home several trophies for writing, directing, editing, and sound editing and mixing (and was nominated for multiple acting awards): five Emmys for a single episode.

Wood plays Dolores, an artificially intelligent "host" programmed to be a sort of damsel in distress for guests at the Abernathy ranch. This year could also see plenty of new winners, including actors from hits like This Is Us and The Handmaid's Tale. Note: Foy won the Golden Globe for this category.

Emmy Award victor Stephen Colbert, the multi-talented host of THE LATE SHOW with STEPHEN COLBERT, is set to host, marking his first time as master of ceremonies for the event. Others are veterans, having already won or been nominated many times over the years. Here, everything you need to know about Sunday night's awards.

Big Little Lies, with Kidman and Papandrea, as executive producers, is the frontrunner for Outstanding Limited Series ahead of FEUD and The Night Of.

Of the 35 shows with at least 15 Emmy wins, 10 are still on the air. "LA 92" won the award for Exceptional Merit in Documentary Film Making.

Colbert also wasn't sure if Kimmel's advice was applicable considering that he lives in NY and Kimmel lives in Los Angeles where a lot of celebrities live. "CBS Sunday Morning's" Tracy Smith spoke with the comedian about Trump, comedy and hosting the popular awards show.
