Xbox One's 'Intelligent Delivery' system will free up hard drive space

The Intelligent Delivery system for the Xbox One, according to Eurogamer's Digital Foundry, will allow users to download only the assets that they need, compared to having them download complete game packages.

While Intelligent Delivery has the potential to greatly streamline delivery and installation of games on the Xbox One family of consoles, it is up to the individual developer to implement it. Developers could theoretically use ID to carve up their game into "chunks" or what I like to call "modules", effectively letting gamers download or install the portions they want. Another example, reportedly given by Microsoft, is games with multi-language support. For FIFA games where the download is largely taken up by all of the various languages supported by the game, users would be able to delete all of them except the language they need.

Of course all of these features depend on game creators sorting their games into data chunks, which they may not want to do exclusively for Xbox One and for some things - like separating campaign and multiplayer modes - it may not be so simple.

When the gamer goes to download a title, only those chunks with the relevant tags are pulled from Microsoft's servers. A developer could give their customers the option of uninstalling certain features to help reduce the size of a game's download. From a dev perspective, it means XBO/XBS users don't have to download 4K assets - because that can be assigned as a chunk just for the Xbox One X.

Virtual-On also joined the Xbox One Backwards Compatibility list today, though only for Japanese players. Devs have total freedom to utilize the console's 6TFLOP horsepower as they see fit-Microsoft institutes no regulations or standards, and games can support modes like native 4K, upscaled 4K, 1080p 60FPS, 4K HDR, and a bazillion other features and modes that are possible with the box.

The Xbox One X will be available on November 7, 2017 for $499. With only the required assets being downloaded, precious hard drive space will be saved and download times will be cut short.

Houston Texans vs. Cincinnati Bengals Preview and Prediction
Welcome along to the Clunker Bowl as the Texans and Bengals attempt to bounce back from thoroughly miserable displays in week one. It worries me that Foreman will seemingly get more carries as the season goes on but for this week he should be relatively fine.
