The dementia sufferer is believed to have wandered into a tropical forest and become disoriented.
Queensland Police Acting Inspector Ed Lukin said they also found some "biological matter which we believe to be human remains".
The results of the forensic tests are likely to be released on Friday.
"We continue to search the area in the hope of finding her alive (but) because of the proximity of these items near the creek bank, we can not rule out the possibility of a crocodile attack".
Police are now searching for the crocodile.
Ozcare Port Douglas facility manager Daniel Robinson said the company was "deeply saddened" by Ms Cameron's disappearance and offered condolences to her family.
Though crocodiles have been known to attack humans, the agency adds, "the statistics show that you are more likely to die from a lightning strike or bee sting than from a crocodile attack".
