But this year there is no headphone jack in the Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL.

With the launch of the new device, Google is trying to capture the wireless headphones now dominated by Apple among premium customers.

But the star of the show for GeekWire's Todd Bishop was a smaller announcement: Google Clips, an AI-fueled hands-free camera that uses machine learning to automatically recognize what's going on and take pictures of - theoretically - what you want to see.

Unlike the standard Pixel and 8, Google's phone is the one that's slightly more expensive this time around, with an $849 price tag compared to the Plus' $799.

Google, during the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL launch, did not hover much around the headphones part despite having a great new feature (more on that later).

Netflix Is Raising Prices For US Subscribers
So there's that, T-Mobile's Netflix On Us promotion will still be available even with Netflix's prices increasing. The company is spending around $6 billion on programming this year, projected to rise to $7 billion in 2017.

Past year marked a big shift for Google's mobile efforts. Google did not create wired USB-C headphones of its own. We have to accept that the 3.5mm jack will soon be gone from most smartphones.

Another feature of the new Google earbuds is the touchpad, which can be found on the right earpiece. Powered by AI, Clips captures "stable, clear shots" of "spontaneous moments", says the company, and syncs videos automatically to other devices via the Google Clips app. This year, Google has bumped up the tech to bring even faster charging with the Pixel 2. But then again they employ human translators who translate the languages in real-time. But if you're constantly losing stuff, the Pixel Buds might help you keep it together. Also, the new phones "front selfie" can use portrait mode.

We learnt quite a bit with the first Pixel in India and one of the things we're doing is increasing our marketing investment, really to explain the product.

With a not so popular feature and that too with exclusivity, in an industry where the companies that play it safe by immediately blending in, Google and Apple's divisiveness has become its secret weapon.
