  • Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was heard calling Trump a'moron after the July meeting where the president said he wanted the U.S. nuclear stockpile to grow back to Cold War numbers

President Donald Trump attacked NBC News after the network reported on Wednesday that Trump called for a tenfold increase in the US's nuclear arsenal during a July 20 meeting at the Pentagon. "Bad for Country!", Mr Trump tweeted early Wednesday, US time.

Trump has previously challenged NBC's reporting on the meeting, including a revelation that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson referred to the president as a "moron" after the meeting and considered resigning from the Cabinet. We've all grown quite accustomed to Trump's posturing, but that doesn't make his antics any easier to defend.

President Donald Trump's insults, threats and challenges to journalists have led to questions of whether the Commander-in-Chief respects the First Amendment.

Tensions between the U.S. and North Korea have intensified in recent months as the Trump administration has struggled to rein in Kim Jong-un's expanding nuclear and ballistic weapons programme.

"General Mattis put out a statement, or is putting out a statement, saying that was fake news, that it was just mentioned that way", he said.

NBC News has incurred the wrath of Trump's ire in recent days after a report last week Tillerson called the president a "moron" and almost resigned.

Planning Two Ways Out
Topics range from "stay low and go", don't back into the house or building to retrieve anything, and smoke detectors. October 8-14 is Fire Prevention Week .

The tweets were then posted on Wednesday morning. USA news reports have painted the relationship between Trump and Tillerson as tense.

Any increase in America's nuclear arsenal would not only break with decades of US nuclear doctrine but also violate worldwide disarmament treaties signed by every president since Ronald Reagan. Rubio asks Army to kick out West Point grad MORE called the president a "moron", and that Trump suggested increasing the nation's nuclear arsenal. "This kind of erroneous reporting is irresponsible", Defence Secretary Jim Mattis said.

As a businessman and candidate, Trump frequently threatened to sue news organizations over unflattering coverage.

During a joint meeting with Canadian Prime Minsiter Justin Trudeau at the White House Trump said that the current nuclear arsenal of the United States is already sufficient, and that no increase is needed.

The NBC report comes during a time of high tension between the United States and North Korea over Pyongyang's nuclear weapons and missile programs, and just ahead of an expected announcement from Trump on whether to decertify the global deal on Iran's nuclear programme.

As Politico points out, the FCC licenses individual stations not networks though NBC's parent company, Comcast, does own a number of stations.
