It is also planning to do the same returns process for items bought from third-party sellers on its site.

It's estimated that USA shoppers return more than $260 billion worth of items every year. And, it seems the big-box retailer is onto something.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc on Tuesday forecast a 40 percent rise in USA online sales next year as it ramps up competition with Amazon.com Inc, boosting shares of world's biggest brick-and-mortar retailer to the highest in more than two years.

The way Wal-Mart's 30 second return will work is customers will start the process on Wal-Mart's mobile app before going to the store. Using this two simple steps the refund will be credited to customers account.

The company also plans to add 1,000 online-grocery locations - roughly double the current number of sites, which help fill orders from customers buying their food on Walmart.com . The company is introducing a new in-store returns service that will speed up the return process for the item sold and shipped by Walmart.com. In addition, in some cases like with bulky items, customers can simply keep them and still get a refund.

Home escape plan is focus of Fire Prevention Week
Smoke inhalation hurts more people during a fire than actual flames do, and you'll breath less toxic air if you stay low. CT public safety officials are urging residents to create and practice a home escape plan in the event of a fire.

Ever wait on line at a Walmart service desk to return an online purchase? This service will initially be available on select household items, such as shampoo and color cosmetics, and others items to be added over time, Walmart said.

The reinvented return service continues Wal-Mart's efforts to make shopping more convenient for customers by integrating its vast network of physical stores with growing digital capabilities. Clients will receive their money back yet they won't have to take back such items to the store. Second, complete the process by dropping the product at the store's Mobile Express Lane and scanning QR code for the refund. Wal-Mart has said that in some markets, the online grocery offering brings in customers who've never shopped at the retailer before.

The retail chain said the app will let its clients to enter all the needed information about the return before coming to the store, where a Walmart staff will facilitate the transaction in less than a minute.

In summary, our initial impression of WMT's recent results and plans for next year reinforce our view that WMT is taking seriously the need to invest in technology and integrate it into it stores.
