  • Report: Apple is back to being the world's top wearable maker

According to research firm Canalys, the USA firm shipped 3.9 million Apple Watch units in the third-quarter, the strongest ever for Apple. Huawei is in fourth place, but its share of 6% means it's unlikely to pose a threat to the top three in the near future. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is again back at the top of the list of global wearable band market. Apple shipped 23% of all smartwatches, fitness bands, and other wearables, Canalys said, just ahead of Chinese low-priced seller Xiaomi, at 21%, and Fitbit (fit), which captured a 20% market share. The Motley Fool has the following options: long January 2020 $150 calls on Apple and short January 2020 $155 calls on Apple. The launch of Apple Watch Series 3 is one major reason for Apple's stellar performance in the third-quarter. Canalys expects strong demand from Chinese customers once the issue is resolved. Their increase in third quarter shipments was, however, more than offset by slowing demand for fitness trackers. Tim Cook noted that "With unit growth of over 50% for the third consecutive quarter, it continues to be the best selling and most loved smartwatch in the world".

Have you or are planning on buying an Apple Watch Series 3 before the end of the year? The company also released new WatchOS 4 for the Watch generations. According to Canalys estimates, as many as 800,000 units of the Apple Watch shipped in Q3 were cellular-enabled.

Moto X4 now in India at Rs 20999
It is packed with usual connectivity features like 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5 .0, NFC and Global Positioning System . The hybrid SIM card slot is placed on the top, whereas the USB Type-C port and the 3.5mm headphone socket are at the bottom.

Incidentally, this is the very same quarter where Google, which makes the Android Wear smartwatch platform to rival the Apple Watch, has been completely silent on the future of its smart watches. The Chinese government has now disabled the Apple Watch LTE access due to apparent security concerns, but the once the issue is resolved, Canalys expects strong demand from the Chinese buyers as well, according to 9to5mac. With figures of the Q3 2017 coming into the picture, Apple has 23 percent of the market share. Year to date, the stock is up over 49%, while in the last one-month, it is up over 10%.
