Egyptair CEO Safwat Musallam said during a press conference at the Dubai Airshow that the order is part of the airline's fleet modernisation strategy.

Less than a month after Airbus agreed to rescue Bombardier's struggling C Series jet program, Bombardier has announced a second order for the narrowbody passenger plane.

The CS300 is the larger version of Bombardier's C Series aircraft.

The Egypt flag carrier is not the first CSeries customer in the Middle East, but it hopes to be the first operator. "That will take our firm order book to over 400 airplanes". The deal is valued at $1.1 billion based on list prices.

EgyptAir Holding has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Bombardier (BBA, Montréal Trudeau) for twelve firm CS300s with purchase rights for an additional twelve of the type.

Half of USA adults have high blood pressure in new rules
The new guidelines eliminate the prehypertension category. "Rather, it brings to light the need to make lifestyle changes". In terms of lives, the change translates to a 14% increases in the number of adults classified with high blood pressure.

"We are respecting the customer's wishes to not disclose the identity", Cromer said from Dubai.

Bole said, "I think it's a great template and it's something that will be followed extremely closely by the other carriers in the region", he said.

If the Egyptian airline buys all 24 aircraft the value of the contract could soar to almost $2.2 billion.

The US trade department imposed tariffs of 300% on the C Series as it upheld a complaint from Boeing over subsidies the aircraft received from the Canadian and United Kingdom governments. In October, it said it would impose an 80 percent duty on top of duties of almost 220 percent on the aircraft, a benefit for rival Boeing.
