Mumbai-based former model Rashmi Shahbazkar, who accused her Muslim husband Asif Shahbazkar of torturing her to convert to Islam, has made some more shocking allegations against him. An investigation has also been launched on the same. Maharashtra is governed by BJP and police report to the elected government.

Police are now investigating the matter and trying to ascertain if it is a case of love jihad.

Addressing a press conference in suburban Bandra on Saturday, the woman showed "injury marks" that she claimed were inflicted by her husband when she refused to change her religion. "He would then slowly pester me to convert to Islam". When she refused, he started physically assaulting her, she has said. "On Friday night, he smashed a beer bottle on my head", the woman was quoted by The Hindu.

Rashmi also claims that her husband thrashed before she approached the police and after filing an FIR, the cops took the complainant to a hospital where she's now undergoing treatment. It also contained the statement given to the police. She was very clear that she would not convert to Islam after marriage.

She alleged that her life is in danger as her husband had tried to poison her earlier. When she asked the reason, he said "such things" would happen if she did not embrace Islam.

The former model further alleged that her husband has married another woman and both were trying to evict her from the house.

A case has been registered in Mumbai's Bandra station under section 354, 323, 324, 504, 506 of Indian Penal Code and the police is investigating the entire matter.
