  • Income Tax department raids Sasikala relatives' properties in Poes Garden

The late night search at the Poes Garden residence of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Friday reportedly unearthed several incriminating documents related to alleged business deals involving black money.

According to him, concerned over the current travails of Sasikala, Mr. Dhivakaran said that Jayalalithaa had left her aide unguarded after her death but there was no need to blow this out of proportion. Dinakaran on Saturday accused Prime minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley behind the searches by the sleuths including Friday's raid at Poes Garden.

Watch accompanying video of Poornima Murali for more details. Poes Garden came under the siege of government agencies for the first time in 20 years on Friday night after the I-T raids. While leaders and MLAs supporting Dinakaran had attacked the AIADMK ruling faction and BJP at the Centre for raiding Jayalalithaa's residence, state Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar blamed Sasikala and her family members for the raid. "Friday's search is the result of the raids conducted in their houses".

"IT raids have become common now and it is being conducted everywhere", he said.

Speaking to reporters in Thoothukudi, TTV Dhinakaran said, "When Amma was in hospital, PM who claims that he was her friend never visited her".

Before they thanked Trump on Wednesday for intervening with Xi, Trump had wondered whether they would express gratitude to him. Like I told him, 'They try to make a big deal out of nothing sometimes'. "They were headed for 10 years in jail!" he tweeted.

TTV Dinakaran, criticised the Chief Minister and the other Ministers for being mute spectators for all the events.

"Just imagine, if someone from your family happened to be with a powerful leader and did all the things said by the leader, and was still pushed to an unsafe situation later, then that is the best example for all women. We got what we wanted", the official said.

The Chief Minister conceded it was a painful development.

The officials conducted a thorough search in the two rooms used by Sasikala and a room used by her personal secretary S Poongundran. "We received input that some important electronic storage devices are going to be removed from the two rooms", an I-T official said.
