No. 7 Penn State falls to No

The No. 24 Spartans checked it off for the second time with a 27-24 upset win against No. 7 Penn State on Saturday night in East Lansing.

Penn State's Trace McSorley was 26-for-47 passing for 381 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions. Barkley had 14 carries for 63 yards, caught three passes for 33 yards and had two kick returns for 15 yards. The sophomore finished with 400 passing yards in the Spartans' biggest win of the season so far.

Thanks to heavy rain and some sparse lightning strikes, the earliest the Nittany Lions will be back on the field is 5:30 p.m., according to officials at Michigan State.

All the Nittany Lions could do was help themselves over the final four games of the season.

The game was delayed for an extended period in the middle of the second quarter over weather concerns, before both teams got back on the field to finish the game out.

The Spartans tied the game up at 14 before halftime and took a 17-14 lead midway through the third.

Penn State was driving for the potential go-ahead score but went for it on fourth-and-3 from the Michigan State 31-yard line and McSorley's pass was incomplete.

It was 1:15 p.m. when Penn State and Michigan State players were forced back into their locker rooms and fans were ordered to exit Spartan Stadium.

Penn State was missing a pair of starters in offensive tackle Ryan Bates and defensive end Ryan Buchholz.

Seventh-rated Penn State entered the game as a 9-point favorite after its first loss of the season, 39-38 at Ohio State a week ago.
