Infuriated with the recent killings, the state's BJP and RSS workers have called for a complete shutdown on Monday in Guruvayur. "The Government should urgent steps to arrest the culprits and ensure that such incidents do not recur". The BJP has alleged that as many as 120 of its workers, 84 in Kannur alone, have been killed in Kerala since 2001.
Gopalakrishnan accused Sadanandan, secretary of the CPI (M)'s local committee in Brahmakulam near Guruvayur, of having direct link with the murder. We had lodged complaints with the police a few times on this. The attackers later abandoned the vehicle and fled in a bike, police said.
