  • Trump on North Korea crisis: I'd never call Kim 'short and fat'

Trump followed up his weird tweet by telling reporters that it would be a "good thing" for him and dictator to become friends.

Kim responded to those jabs with an insult of his own, saying in a statement aimed at Trump that "I will surely and definitely tame the mentally deranged United States dotard with fire".

President Donald Trump traded petty insults with North Korea's supreme leader Kim Jung Un Sunday, but told reporters shortly after that perhaps one day, he and the North Korean dictator might one day be friends. On the other hand Trump expressed his wish to befriend with North Korean leader.

The Prez responded to Kim Jong Un calling him old and threatening nuclear war by dishing out an insult Saturday night (Sunday morning for Trump, who's now in Vietnam), posting on Twitter.

Confused as to how the two of them weren't friends (?) he continued: "Oh well, I try so hard to be his friend - and maybe someday that will happen!"

Tensions between North Korea and the U.S. have escalated in recent months following the rogue state's sixth nuclear bomb test on September 3, which earned more sanctions and condemnations from the UN.

Trump's address, delivered in front of South Korea's National Assembly, ripped into North Korea for its well-documented violations of human rights. And do not try us.

US President Donald Trump has praised Vietnamese growth and plugged US business at a press conference with Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang on a state visit to Hanoi.

"Strange things happen in life".

He said he doesn't know if that friendship will develop, but added it would be "very, very nice if it did".

Tensions have been running high since North Korea test-fired two intercontinental ballistic missiles in July, conducted its sixth and most powerful nuclear test on September 3 and flew ballistic missiles over Japan on August 29 and September 15.
