Two people reportedly stabbed at Mall of America

Authorities say one person is in custody after a stabbing at the Macy's store at the Mall of America Sunday night, CBS Minnesota reports.

Police say the suspect had attempted to steal the first victim's property, which was in a fitting room.

Bloomington police are investigating a stabbing at the Mall Of America.

Family members were apparently able to disarm the suspect and Bloomington police took the suspect into custody.

This is a breaking story. The second victim was stabbed when they tried to intervene.

Local law enforcement has identified 20-year-old suspect Mahad Abdiaziz Abdirahaman, WCCO-TV reported.

The scuffle and ensuing response by police led to disconcert as nearby shoppers waited in line for their kids to see Santa.

Police arrested the suspect, who was held by other shoppers after the incident, the Star-Tribune reports.

Authorities said both stabbing victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

For his part, Abdirahaman has been charged with two counts of first-degree assault. "Mall of America has the largest privately trained security force in the country and we are vigilant and committed to providing a safe environment for our guests, employees and tenants".
