General Motors has the app for you. Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts, and Applebee's will allow drivers to order food and drink ahead of pickup; Shell will provide drivers the closest fuel station and soon let them pay for their fuel from the vehicle; Priceline will provide hotel and airfare information; and TGI Fridays will let a driver reserve a table.

Marketplace is being offered on millions of 2017-18 model-year GM vehicles with compatible infotainment systems and embedded OnStar 4G LTE capabilities. Payment for items such as food and drink is made through accounts owners have previously set up with popular merchants on the platform. "Leveraging connectivity and our unique data capabilities, we have an opportunity to make every trip more productive and give our customers time back", Chamorro said.

The Detroit automaker says the technology, which is rolling out to 4 million cars and trucks in the US through the end of the year via over-the-air updates, adheres to federal distracted driving guidelines and only works with customer consent because personal data is transferred between the vehicle and merchants to complete sales.

Interested companies can contact partner companies Xevo, Conversable, or Sionic Mobile, or email GM directly to get their services integrated with Marketplace. No separate data plan is required to use the Marketplace.

It cuts down on distracted driving by only offering a few options at a time, as opposed to an entire menu, Chamorro said. It is also created to require minimum interaction on behalf of the driver, so they can keep their hands on the wheel.

Bloomberg reports that Deborah Hersman, president of the National Safety Council, has said GM Marketplace will increase driver distractions.

Getty Museum holds fast against fire threat for now
It remained unclear whether any structures had been damaged or destroyed in the fire. Schools were closed in the area and some local residents were ordered to evacuate.

Six restaurant chains are prominent among the first brands available on the Marketplace platform.

From now on, GM customers can order and pay for their favorite product from the comfort of their vehicle, probably trying to wash away the discomfort a traffic jam brings in any driver's life.

- IHOP, allowing to search for nearby restaurants and order from your vehicle.

Starbucks Corp.: The Seattle, Wash. -based coffee giant lets customers order ahead and use their Starbucks Rewards program.

Applebee's and IHOP (DIN) will let you search for their nearest locations and reserve tables. Yes, GM owners can now order and pay for chicken wings from their dashboard. Although it varies by individual merchants, GM earns money off the platform through revenue sharing, platform-placement fees and the exchange of marketing support.

GM says no customer data will be shared with vendors with the customer's consent.
