John Mayer had to undergo an emergency appendectomy in New Orleans on Tuesday (December 5), representatives said.

John Mayer has been hospitalized for an emergency appendectomy. He had been due to perform at a concert in New Orleans with the Dead & Company, but that date has been postponed.

The group has been touring since 2015 when the Grateful Dead, the legendary jam rockers of the hippie era, officially retired.

Mayer has enjoyed a string of chart-topping albums since the 2000s with his blend of mid-tempo acoustic rock and blues.
