Qualcomm files new patent infringement complaints against Apple

In its filing, Apple alleges that Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 and 820 processors, which power phones from Samsung and Google's Pixel phones, infringe on those patents. "Qualcomm's paid advertising makes wildly inflated claims about its role in the development of the smartphone, but the facts show that it was Apple that put an easy-to-use computer-phone in the palm of people's hands, not Qualcomm".

Qualcomm then countersued Apple in the summer for infringing on its battery saving patents.

Qualcomm goes further in a claim with the US International Trade Commission, according to The San Diego Union-Tribune, where it asks for imports of iPhone Xs using modems from its rival, Intel, to the banned, which would prevent the device from being sold on AT&T and T-Mobile (that is, unless Apple started buying modems for those phones from Qualcomm). More specifically, the patent covers how a processor can minimize power draw by turning off certain functions when not in use, along with enhanced sleep/wake functionality in mobile chips.

In July, Qualcomm pitched to the courts its particular concerns about some of the battery tech Apple was using in its iPhones and iPads.

Specifically, I do not know any of these women, nor have I ever engaged in sexual misconduct with anyone". Trump's press secretary said his schedule will not allow it.

Patent infringement has been Qualcomm's main offensive tactic in the courtroom fight. Samsung and Google are not named in Apple's counterclaims. Companies like Apple have this routine of filing and receiving technology patents but that is only there is to it. Apple said it is seeking unspecified damages from Qualcomm.

The obvious solution to the spat over battery life patents is for Apple and Qualcomm to cross-license each other's patents, but with emotions still running high no such outcome is likely soon. One of the cases is a companion civil lawsuit to a new complaint also filed Thursday with the ITC that seeks the same remedy of banning iPhones with Intel chips.

Qualcomm in November sued Apple over an alleged breach of a software agreement between the two companies.
