Selena Gomez and Francia RaĆsa used Thursday night's Billboard Women in Music ceremony to celebrate female friendship. Although, she did thank her friends and family for their support, and we can only assume those two would have been included in that bunch. "But how crucial it is that the voices that are being heard for the first time is so great, and I'm so grateful for all the older women who have lifted all of us up, because I couldn't be here without any of you".

She told Billboard Online: 'I'm really honoured to do this for her tonight. "It was really hard in the beginning", she admitted.

Tearful Selena Gomez Honors Life-Saving BFF At Billboard Women In Music Ceremony
I think all of you lovely folks should just go ahead and check out what Gomez made a decision to wear to accept quite the honor. She's standing here and being honoured and I've seen her career continue to soar, it's incredible ", she told Billboard Online.

Gomez also said her surgery has made her reevaluate how she was making decisions, encouraging her to focus on herself and what was best for her, not other people. "But I think it is important to kind of go through your life the way you want and I like to come at things with my best". She got incredibly emotional as her A Rainy Day in NY co-star Elle Fanning presented her with the award. I've cried. But I definitely feel hopeful. The 25-year-old faced serious (and understandable) backlash, because the 82-year-old was accused of sexually abusing his adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow, when she was just seven years old.

In September, Gomez revealed in a vulnerable Instagram post that - as outcome of her lupus (she was diagnosed in 2013) - she was forced to undergo emergency kidney transplant surgery earlier this year. She's enjoying where she is, being able to say no and "being part of the world". When the filmmakers couldn't find anyone else, they gave her another shot and she gave it her all. "I love you so much sis". "I feel like I can make a positive impact by sharing my story".
