  • UCLA guard Jaylen Hands right dribbles past South Carolina guard Tyvoris Solomon during the first half of an NCAA college basketball game Friday Nov. 17 2017 in Los Angeles

South Carolina State's Tyvoris Solomon collapsed on Saturday midway through the first half of his team's tilt against NC State. He was conscious as he was taken to a hospital, according to multiple reports.

SC head coach Murray Garvin accompanied Solomon to the hospital while associate head coach Rio Pitt took over head coaching duties after a 40-minute game delay.

I'm not sure how either team was able to continue on with the game after that, but South Carolina State players chose to return to the court, and the crowd gave them a standing ovation. He reportedly was revived on the court after his heart had temporarily stopped. Play resumed after a 40-minute delay, which included a 10-minute warmup period.

The hospital reported that Solomon is in "fair condition" and will undergo further testing to determine the cause of his near-fatal collapse.

Players and coaches from both teams looked on with concern as Solomon received medical attention.

Lennard Freeman scored 19 points and Omer Yurtseven added 17 to lead the Wolfpack (7-2).

ABOUT SOUTH CAROLINA STATE (1-6): The Bulldogs are one of the worst offensive teams in the nation, shooting a paltry 36.1 percent overall and 32.2 percent from 3-point range.
