A 20-year-old high school friend has been arrested in connection with the killing of a 19-year-old University of Pennsylvania student who went missing and was found dead in a Lake Forest park after a weeklong search. Sheriff's investigators said they believe Woodward picked up Bernstein on January 3, drove to multiple locations in the Foothill Ranch area, before arriving at Borrego Park where Bernstein disappeared.

"We will continue to search for justice for Blaze and his family", Annee Della Donna, an attorney for the Bernstein family, said at the press conference, according to the Daily Pennsylvanian. It's unclear why the suspect didn't check to see if Blaze made it home to his parent's house, who live around five minutes away from the park.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, detectives wrote in a warrant affidavit that while interviewing Woodward shortly after the victim's disappearance, they noticed his hands were scratched and he had "dirt under the fingernails" on both of his hands. PREVIOUS STORY BELOW.Bernstein's body was found Tuesday in the brush along the perimeter of Lake Forest's Borrego Park after he had been missing for a week.

The suspect in the murder of college student Blaze Bernstein reportedly posted violent material on social media. Bernstein was visiting his family in Foothill Ranch during winter break when his high school friend Woodward picked him up on January 2 and drove with him to several places before winding up at a neighborhood park. He said that he waited in his auto while Blaze walked to the park, then waited for around an hour the victim to return, but he never did.

Bernstein, a sophomore at UPenn, was planning to major in psychology and later study medicine, the Orange County Register reported his father Gideon Bernstein saying last week.

He acted nervously when questioned by police, avoided touching door knobs and had unexplained cuts on him, they said. They asked him how his hands got so dirty and the friend said he "fell into a dirt puddle" during the sparring session.

Bernstein's mother, Jeanne Pepper, responded to news of the arrest on Twitter, writing, "Finally". It will never bring back my son.

It also states that while speaking to the friend at Borrego Park on January 4, detectives noticed his hands had several small scratches and abrasions. He said the scratches and abrasions were from a "fight club" that he was involved in.

The warrant also stated that the friend was also "breathing heavy, talking fast and visibly shaking". The detectives noticed hiking and camping equipment in the rear of the vehicle, a large empty plastic bin on the backseat, and a black belt on the passenger seat floorboard.
