After his Golden Globe win last week, Aziz Ansari turned into the latest big-name media star to be accused of sexual misconduct thanks to a woman explaining - in sometimes excruciating detail - a night she spent with the comedy star last fall. The photographer (known as "Grace" for anonymity) alleges that Ansari persistently pressured her to engage in sexual activities that she was not comfortable with, aptly comparing his behavior to that of a "horny, rough, entitled 18-year old".

The young woman, given the pseudonym Grace, met Ansari at an Emmys after party in September.

"Having been in similar situations myself as has every breathing woman on the planet that I know, it's a hard thing to do", she added. "I took her words to heart and responded privately". You went to the press with the story of a bad date.

The day after, Ansari said he received a text from Grace saying that although "it may have seemed okay", she felt uncomfortable. He expressed regret, noting he was "surprised and concerned" to get texts from Grace after their date in which she said she had been so uncomfortable because, in his mind, their evening together "by all indications was completely consensual". Their night ended with Ansari arranging for an Uber to pick her up. She added, "You had an unpleasant date".

"I'm sorry you had a bad date", Banfield said, going on to claim that the incident described by the accuser "wasn't a rape, nor was it a sexual assault".

After Ansari leads Grace to a mirror and bends her over, she says, "No, I don't think I'm ready to do this".

In her monologue Monday night, Ms. Banfield accused the woman of damaging the movement that has shined a light on sexual misconduct.

"The Atlantic's Caitlin Flanagan wrote that the allegations against Ansari are proof that women are "angry", temporarily powerful", and potentially "dangerous", essentially arguing that Ansari's accuser should have just picked up and left - which she eventually did - and grow a thicker skin. "So I have to ask you, what exactly was your beef?"

She said the comedian kept attempting to have sex with her despite her signalling that she didn't want to.

The woman said she "felt violated" and cried during her entire ride home.

"Your sexual encounter was unpleasant", Banfield said.

Noted feminist author Jessica Valenti tweeted on Sunday, "A lot of men will read that post about Aziz Ansari and see an everyday, reasonable sexual interaction. A movement that has finally changed the oversexed professional environment that I, too, have struggled though at times over the last 30 years in broadcasting".

Weiss says the woman's allegation against Ansari is "the worst thing that has happened to the #MeToo movement since it began in October", explaining that it "transforms what ought to be a movement for women's empowerment into an emblem for female helplessness".
