Looking to simplify the mobile payment process, Google earlier today introduced a re-branded service it calls Google Pay.

"With Google Pay, it'll be easier for you to use the payment information saved to your Google Account, so you can speed through checkout with peace of mind", Google's Pali Bhat explained.

The Google Pay brand will start to appear online in the coming weeks, and Google has no plans to phase out the Android Pay or Google Wallet brands, a spokesperson said.

Natalie Portman points at all-male Best Director nominees at Golden Globes
Although she concluded her speech by transitioning to the Best Picture nominees, her main point won't be forgotten anytime soon. The category is all-male, which some felt was a snub to Greta Gerwig and her work directing Lady Bird .

Instead of having two different payment methods, Google decided it was time to combine both Android Pay and Google Wallet into one service.

Google, in all its infinite wisdom, is yet to come up with a single, unified platform for payments.

The companies are offering $5 off movie ticket orders to anyone using Google Pay on the Fandango Android app and entering the promo code "GooglePay2018". Google has announced that "Google Pay" will soon be everywhere.

No doubt because they probably helped test the new platform, Google notes that Google Pay is already available through a handful of services. Now, the Google has announced a new payment system named Google Pay. "The lack of unity and consistent messaging has created challenges for consumers in understanding which Google payment product to use, not to mention how and where to use it", said Jordan McKee, principal analyst for payments with 451 Research. Google Pay is aimed at becoming a unified platform which can be used for Play Store transactions, payment at NFC-enabled booths and miscellaneous online transactions (to pay for stuff purchased from the Google Store).
