Manchester City confident of £25m transfer deal for 'desperate' Alexis Sanchez

The Premier League leaders are confident of signing the Chilean for a fee of £25m despite Arsenal's £35m asking price.

Nevertheless, it appears the manager has spotted an opening to bring the two-time Arsenal Player of the Season to the Etihad, ignoring another major transfer opportunity in order to recruit Sanchez.

City were allegedly prepared to wait until the summer to sign Sanchez on a free transfer but according to the Daily Mail, that stance has changed.

Manchester City will make a decision over next few days whether to bid for Alexis Sánchez.

The newspaper claims that Arsenal would consider offers of £35m for Sanchez having turned down a £60m bid from City a few months ago, with the Chile global available on a free transfer in the upcoming summer window.

PSG are also interested in the Chilean, forcing Guardiola into making a move earlier than he had hoped.

Gabriel Jesus sustained a knee ligament injury on New Year's Eve, which has rendered him out of action for the next two months at the very least.

Manager Pep Guardiola has already iterated that the Premier League leaders could enter the market this month, although signing anyone will be hard.

Arsenal, on the other hand, are keeping their options open and are scouring for possible replacements, with the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Hirving Lozano and others linked.

Arsenal are said to be ready to consider offers in the region of £35 million for the player who has scored eight times in all competitions for the Gunners this season.

Jesus left the field in tears during the first half after injuring his left leg. City manager Pep Guardiola said after the match that the Brazilian could now be sidelined for one to two months.
