Variety reports that Marvel Studios is moving forward with a standalone Black Widow movie starring Scarlett Johansson. Although the publication's sources say it is still very early in the development process, the move at least brings us closer to an actual film. More than all that: the writer we're getting is Jac Schaeffer.

Marvel hasn't yet commented on the news. However assuming that it is true, given that a director has yet to be named and the movie greenlit, it will probably be a long time before we get any official information about the movie.

Turns out, Marvel Studios is now serious about making a standalone Black Widow movie. Actress Johansson is said to have met with a handful of Marvel executives to discuss their hopes for what the eventual Black Widow scribe will do with the film and how they might approach the character's story.

PSG star 'agrees' to join Man United
The 25-year-old Brazilian would cost around £20 million and there are plenty of reasons why the deal would work. I need to concentrate on improving at PSG.

Still, after years of paying lip service to the idea of a Black Widow solo movie, Marvel is finally opening up its checkbook to explore the project, which is the first step towards a movie actually happening.

Schaeffer stepped into the feature film industry with her 2009 pic TiMER, which she wrote and directed. She also wrote the 2014 Blacklist pick The Shower, a sci-fi action comedy about a baby shower alien invasion that has Anne Hathaway attached to star and produce, as well as MGM's female-focused reboot of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, aptly titled Nasty Women, which is set to star Hathaway and Rebel Wilson. Schaeffer's most recent scriptwriting credit is the Disney short Olaf's Frozen Adventure, which played before screenings of Pixar's newest animated movie Coco. All that's confirmed is a Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel, out in the USA 5 July 2019, and Guardians of the Galaxy 3, rumoured for 2020. Sadly though, the character was never the main lead previously as she only served in ensemble casts.
