  • Skype Private Conversations end-to-end encryption arrives for Insiders

But professionals usually prefer skype and the company is looking forward to making their conversation secured. To that end, Skype is rolling out end-to-end encryption within Private Conversations using Signal Protocol.

Preview messages from Private Conversations don't show in Chats or notifications.

Microsoft has been touting Skype as being encrypted for some time, noting it uses 256-bit AES encryption.

Microsoft is partnering with encrypted communications app Signal on a new end-to-end encrypted messaging feature called Private Conversations. Seeing as it is in beta today, this may become a reality but Microsoft has yet to acknowledge if they will go down this path. Private Conversations with end-to-end encryption is available only to Skype Insider testers using Skype 8.13.76.8 for iOS, Android, Linux, Mac, and Windows Desktop. End-to-end encryption means that the communication channel is secure and the messages stored on servers can only be read by those involved in the communications, via a decryption key stored on the device, as opposed to being stored on a remote server.

To start a private conversation, you need to tap on + icon and select "New Private Conversation". Apple iMessages are also end-to-end encrypted.

Samsung lays out its vision for the future of IoT
This time it will come with Bixby integration through Samsung's developed SmartThings IoT. With 5G connectivity, Samsung demonstrated its vision for more comfortable driving.

Bear in mind that only a single device can be used with each conversation, the post said.

Once the contact has accepted, your Private Conversation will be available on that specific device. Also, in this category are Facebook, WhatsApp, Google and Telegram. It only works with one-to-one chats at this stage - so video calls and group chats remain unencrypted.

At this point, it's unclear as to what plans Skype has to roll out Private Conversations to the general public, but you can join the Skype Insider program here.

The concern here for me is the fact that the feature is an opt-in one-you will have to enable it to have your conversation encrypted. What would happen if you forget to enter "Private Conversations"?
