Miller slams CNN for 'low journalistic standards' during Fox interview

14 January, 2018, 12:43 | Author: Brenda Erickson

White House Senior Policy Adviser Stephen Miller is denying reports that he had to be escorted out of CNN after a contentious interview with network anchor Jake Tapper on Sunday.

"I get it: There's one viewer that you care about right now, and you're being obsequious and you're being a factotum in order to please him", Tapper responded.

The interview became increasingly hostile as Mr Miller opted to attack CNN instead of answering questions about Mr Trump's fitness to be president.

On Monday, CBS News reporter Arden Farhi tweeted out a transcript of Tapper and Miller's exchange when the cameras were off. Miller initially brought up Trump's statement on Bannon's quotes in the book, in which he said that "Steve Bannon has nothing to do with me or my Presidency". He proceeded to talk about Trump's ability to tap into a phenomenon that was overlooked by the political establishment, who he referred to as "so-called" geniuses.

Republican senators in Trump meeting say they don't recall 'shithole' comment
Trump says the "so-called bipartisan" deal "was a big step backwards" because it doesn't fund a wall along the Mexican border. Already past year , some Democrats had warned against negotiating with Trump, specifically on immigration.

Miller, in turn, scolded Tapper for making "condescending" and "snide" remarks and bashed CNN for airing "24 hours of negative, anti-Trump, hysterical coverage".

"I have plenty of questions on immigration - you've attempted to filibuster by talking about your flights with the president", Tapper said.

This was the focus of Carlson's A-block, and he asked Miller if he thought CNN would've called security if they were interviewing an MS-13 gang member.

After a few more exchanges like this, Tapper made a decision to cut Miller off for good. Even though the CNN host had to cut Miller off after things got out of control, they kept their intense fight going off-camera, and Miller reportedly had to be escorted out of the building afterwards.
