The Koreas also discussed fielding a joint women's hockey team and having their athletes march under a "unification flag" depicting the Korean Peninsula, instead of their respective national flags, during the opening ceremony for the February 9-25 Games in Pyeongchang, the ministry statement said.

North Korea has cancelled a visit by a delegation to South Korea to prepare for a trip by an art troupe during next month's Winter Olympics, Seoul's Unification Ministry was quoted as saying by South Korea's Yonhap news agency on Friday (Jan 19).

Referring to a detailed peace-making agreement between the rival countries announced Thursday by South Korea's Unification Ministry, including a joint team in the women's hockey tournament, Adams said it was "great. but these are discussions" - meaning the International Olympic Committee had not yet given the deal the final green light. I hope you will look at the big picture, which is that we're moving toward the Peace Olympics that we wanted and that we're discussing North Korea's participation in the Olympics, which is something we never dreamed could happen. In addition, South Korean athletes will hold a training session in a North Korean ski resort.

At those events, North and South Korean athletes in the same uniforms entered stadiums behind a "unification flag", a blue image of the Korean Peninsula on a white background, to the tune of the Korean traditional folk song "Arirang" instead of their individual national anthems.

Though most South Koreans disagree with inserting politics into sports, some say fostering peace would be a better prize than a gold medal. This comes after Pyongyang chose to send officials for talks with their southern counterparts amid growing tensions over the North's nuclear programme. But along the way, there has been considerable criticism that the athletes on the South Korean team who earned the right to compete in the Olympics will have fewer opportunities to play in the games and that this will also undermine the team's esprit de corps. "North Korea has not provided a reason for the withdrawal". The allies also "agreed to continue the rotational deployment of USA strategic assets to South Korea and nearby areas as long as North Korea's nuclear and missile threats persist". The only information so far is that 230 will be sent to cheer at events that feature both North and South Korean athletes.

Brady, Belichick tight-lipped about hand injury
It would be shocking if Brady does not try to play on Sunday, but the bigger question is what level Brady will be able to play. Brady said he "was out there" for the entirety of Friday's practice, the last of the week before a walk-through Saturday.

South Korea's Unification Ministry said North Korea didn't explain why it was "suspending" the two-day visit by the seven-member advance team that it proposed just hours earlier through a cross-border communication channel.

"The ministers agreed that sanctions and pressure will continue on North Korea as it keeps developing nuclear weapons and missiles".

It remains unclear if this was a suspension of the advanced team or a full cancellation.

PyeongChang 2018 has also announced a noticeable uptick in Paralympic Games ticket sales. The IOC has an invitation-only process for Russian athletes with the aim of cutting out those who it believes were part of organized doping programs or cover-ups at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
