Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has told Commander US Central Command (Centcom) during a telephonic conversation that the Pakistani nation felt betrayed over recent US statements despite decades of cooperation, the military said in a statement on Friday.

"[On the other hand] India is still active [in perpetrating terrorism] inside Pakistan ".

He said the Taliban had influence in seven tribal agencies in Pakistan 's Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata), but the Pakistanis proved that they were determined [to eliminate terrorism].

"This administration believes it's time to try something different".

The Pakistani military says documents pertaining to the management of the long porous border between Afghanistan and Pakistan have been sent to the Afghan government in a bid to finalize a joint mechanism for the management of the line.

President Donald Trump in a New Year's Day tweet accused the country of giving nothing to the USA but "lies and deceit" and providing "safe haven" to terrorists in return for United States dollars 33 billion aid over the last 15 years. On Trump's comprehensive South Asia strategy for regional diplomacy announced in August a year ago, the official said, "It looked at India-Pakistan relations, encouraging better ties between the two countries and reducing tensions between them".

India has contributed a great deal in terms of developmental aid to Afghanistan, the Pentagon said today, adding that the United States wants to work with India in the region.

"9/11 attacks you know had their roots in this region".

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said Pakistan shall continue its honest counter terrorism efforts even without U.S. financial support in accordance with our national interest while being committed to bring it to its logical conclusion along with other stakeholders. I think that's too narrow of a viewpoint.

"We have to track down and eliminate that unseen enemy", he added. The intensity and frequency of such incidents is a clear testimony that India wants to distract Pakistan's attention from its fight against terror especially along the western border, which should be a source of concern to Washington but strangely enough it is closing its eyes to the serious development and is focusing just on increasing pressure on Pakistan.
