Person in custody following Greyhound bus pursuit in IL

The bus crossed into IL and was stopped near I-94 at Rt. 173.

Illinois State Police were notified of a pursuit out of Wisconsin involving the bus, police said.

"I think he ultimately recognized that this was a serious event when we spiked his tires", Schmaling said. He complied without incident, Schmaling said, and was taken into custody.

According to Schmaling, the driver of the bus didn't realize deputies were attempting to pull the vehicle over. Central time as the bus was headed from Milwaukee to Chicago.

Racine County Sheriffs attempted to pull the bus over on I-94 near Hwy 20 but the bus continued southbound.

Vargas-Rosas is being held at the Lake County Jail in IL but is facing a felony charge of making terroristic threats in Racine County.

The Sheriff's Office is recommending that he be charged with making terroristic threats, a felony, and disorderly conduct.

Several witnesses told police they had heard an argument between the suspect and another passenger and the suspect made threats to kill "everyone on the bus" and reportedly made a motion to his waistband that he was removing a gun, police say.

On Friday at approximately 9:50 p.m., the Racine County Communications Center received a transferred 911 call from Milwaukee County, according to a news release from the Racine County Sheriff's Office. Stop strips were used to blow out two of the tires and the vehicle eventually came to rest in IL.
