  • Apple releases Battery Health tool for iPhones

Although the Cupertino-based company reportedly won't introduce too many features in the next major update to its mobile operating system, iOS 12, choosing instead to focus on reliability and improving performance, it is supposedly still hard at work and developing new features for future iOS updates.

According to Bloomberg, Apple will move to more of a two-year roadmap for iOS and MacOS "instead of keeping engineers on a relentless annual schedule and cramming features into a single update". The report reveals how Apple is giving its engineers the freedom to delay features that aren't polished. The major responsibility comes on the shoulders of Apple's engineers as they worked on new features-packed upgrades in iOS every year and because of that, some features remained imperfect, which later on created problems in software. With the release of iOS 11, we encountered plenty of bugs in many areas.

Bloomberg's well-connected Mark Guttman says features like universal iOS/macOS apps, a Digital Health app for parents to monitor kids' screen time, and Animoji in FaceTime are coming to iOS 12.

The shift is an admission of what many customers have already come to notice: Some Apple software has become prone to bugs and underdeveloped features.

Three-year-old dies of flu, child death toll increases to 63
The flu epidemic is suspected of causing two more deaths including a 5-year-old from NY and a 24-year-old from Las Vegas. The Centers for Disease Control reports this year, there have been 63 pediatric deaths linked to the flu nation-wide.

Apple's new iOS, premiering this spring, could streamline that entire process. These include redesigned home screens for the iPhone, iPad, and CarPlay.

Early reports of Apple's more conservative approach to furnishing the iOS 12 software update are now being fleshed out. The company usually previews its next big update at WWDC, its developer conference over the summer, giving coders and app-makers an opportunity to get to grips with what changes are in the pipeline. A person familiar with the matter said that Apple's primary software guy Craig Federighi outlined the new strategy last month, thus corroborating what previous reports have claimed. Stay tuned for further updates on the upcoming Apple's iPad.

Additionally, there will be new features for the Apple Pencil, as well as a switch in the Mail app to silence selected email threads. Notably, the ability to run iOS apps on macOS could mean that we'll see Apple bring some of its own apps to the Mac, including the Home app. Apple is expected to bring Animojis to iPad with the launch of a new model that features Face ID.

So, what conclusions can we draw from this commentary? It may also integrate Animojis into FaceTime, letting people put virtual faces over themselves during video calls.
