DC police investigate 'white powder' sent to Obama's office

Police are investigating the origins of an envelope containing suspicious white powder sent to former President Barack Obama's Washington, D.C. office. It was unclear whether he was in the office at the time the package was received.

Traffic was reportedly heavy in the vicinity as emergency responders arrived.

The letter had been sent to the headquarters of the World Wildlife Fund, which is where Obama's office is located.

"The incident is over as far as DC Fire and EMS is concerned", Vito Maggiolo, the public information officer for D.C. Fire and EMS, told The Hill.

Edward Smith, of DC fire service, said the suspect letter contained baby powder and was sent to WWF from Hong Kong, China.

The Obama family lives in D.C.'s Kalorama neighborhood which is near the office.

According to Fox News, the package was mailed from Hong Kong, with no return address.

It comes just a day after Donald Trump's daughter-in-law was taken to hospital a letter containing a "suspicious substance' was sent to her NY apartment".

The letter was addressed to her husband, Donald Trump Jr.

The Secret Service continues to investigate the WWF building incident.

Vanessa Trump was rushed to the hospital after she opened the letter and found the white powder.
