DMK moves HC seeking removal of Jaya's portrait from Assembly

At 9.40am, speaker P Dhanapalunveiled the 7ft long and 5ft wide portrait painted by former Government Arts College principal R Mathiazhagan.
"It could never have been the intention of the then speakers to hang portraits of convicts, culprits or persons convicted of offences involving moral turpitude like corruption", the petitioner said.
The portrait was unveiled in the presence of Chief Minister K. Palaniswami, Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam and other state ministers.
