And regarding AI, the handset will reportedly ship with "LG Lens". Early reports suggested that this phone would be called V30+α or the V30 Alpha, but ETNews, a Korean news source, points to the phone being called the LG V30S. In South Korea, it is expected to be available through all the three major mobile operators such as SK Telecom, LG Uplus and KT Corporation.

The LG V30 and V30+ models that were released past year respectively feature 64 GB and 128 GB internal storage. It is likely to carry a price tag of 1 million won (~$920).

LG is probably skipping the LG G7 launch at least at the MWC in order to make the smartphone as powerful as the rivals including Galaxy S9 and Huawei P20.

There are no other hardware changes expected with this new model, but in terms of software, there is one big addition expected - LG Lens.

Update (Jan 31): LG has now confirmed that the company is indeed planning to launch an upgraded version of the V30 at the Mobile World Congress. In the meantime, the LG V30s with an OLED display, Snapdragon 835, 6GB RAM and 256GB internal storage is getting ready to present the premiere at MWC. If a massive amount of onboard storage is important to you, the V30S will be music to your ears.

LG Lens is described as LG's version of Google Lens and Samsung Bixby Vision. It brings AI capabilities to the camera of the phone. The feature allegedly utilizes the LG V30s' camera and AI to show product details and online shopping info. Once the image is recognized, it will be able to find similar products and other items with similar pricing. The report says that the feature will allow users to search or shop for something using the camera sensor, help them translate languages using the camera like Google Translate, and provide AR functionality using Global Positioning System and the camera. LG Lens will support bar-code recognition and QR code identification. Also, the feature supports foreign language translation.
