An emergencies ministry source told Interfax: 'The plane crashed near the village of Argunovo.

The footage appears to show the wreckage of the aircraft with 71 people feared to be dead.

Russia's Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation and forensic teams are at the crash site.

The last large-scale crash in Russia occurred on December 25, 2016, when a Tu-154 operated by the Russian Defense Ministry on its way to Syria crashed into the Black Sea minutes after takeoff from the southern Russian city of Sochi.

The plane was bound for the Russian city of Orsk, in the Orenburg region that borders Kazakhstan.

It was unclear whether there were any casualties among people on the ground at the crash site. There was not a single survivor in the plane left upon it's crash and all souls died than and there. The passengers included three children, ages 5, 13 and 17, state news agency RIA reported.

The woman told the custodian she was okay and that she just had her period before she quickly left the restroom, police said. Airport officials are trying to identify the mother, "but we've exhausted our resources", Butler said in a statement.


He also put off a planned trip to Sochi in order to closely monitor the investigation. "Passengers as well as the crew could hardly survive", they said.

The Saratov Airlines jet, which went off the radar earlier on Sunday, has been located in the countryside not far away from Moscow, a source in the local rescue services said.

The plane was a 7-year-old Antonov An-148 regional jet, a high-wing aircraft with twin turbo engines.

The Russian-made plane had been bought by Saratov from another Russian airline a year ago.

The plane was being operated by Russia'a Saratov Airlines for a domestic flight from the capital to Orsk on the southern tip of the Ural Mountains.

Within two minutes of climbing into the sky the plane began to lose altitude according to the FlightRadar24 tracker.
