   MISERY Commuters face a bleak start to their week

Charities have warned elderly people and those with health conditions to stay home during the worst of the weather.

The forecast for Monday night is cold and frosty with clear skies and light winds, at first.

Heavy snowfall in parts of the country led to rush-hour chaos on roads, motorways and transport networks.

A snow shower is also expected overnight, however there will be heavier bursts from tomorrow afternoon.

Temperatures will plunge to -10C (14F) over the coming nights with numbing winds making it feel closer to -15C (5F).

"It is reaching north-west Scotland and Northern Ireland this evening and then it will gradually work its way into north Wales and north-west England overnight, including a good chance of some fairly substantial settling of snow in those areas".

The Met Office are predicting snow to fall in every part of the United Kingdom overnight and into Tuesday morning and weather warnings are widespread.

The BBC says snow will fall in Dundee from 11pm tonight until 8am Tuesday.

Vulnerable people, such as children and OAPs, have been told to take care in the cold conditions until Friday.

The Met Office is monitoring the developing weather situation and yellow means keep an eye on the latest forecast and be aware that the weather may change or worsen, leading to disruption of your plans in the next few days.

"Prolonged periods of cold weather can be unsafe, especially for the very young, very old or those with chronic diseases". "There'll be a widespread sharp or severe frost will follow with icy patches".
