  • Three die as helicopter crashes in Grand Canyon

In the Grand Canyon, Arizona, three deaths and over four injuries have been caused in a crash of a tourist helicopter.

FAA spokesman Allen Kenitzer earlier said the aircraft sustained considerable damage in the crash. Federal authorities are expected to investigate the incident.

State department of public safety helicopters were at the scene, near Quartermaster Canyon in the Grand Canyon West area.

"First responders had to be flown in and walk to the crash site", he said.

Hualapai Nation Police Chief Francis Bradley said the survivors were airlifted to a Las Vegas hospital as of 2 a.m. Sunday.

The carrier has not commented on the crash at the time of publication. "People died and were horribly injured", he said.

Trump tweeted Friday morning that he had signed the bill, writing that the US military "will now be stronger than ever before". White House legislative affairs director Marc Short said the package would increase spending by "just shy" of $300bn (£216bn).

"Our pilot and other pilots all started running", he said.

'I followed them and I saw smoke.

He said that's when two or three small explosions went off in the wreckage and people weren't sure what to do. He said one of them "was pretty much burned all over". "We had to learn how to market Las Vegas", he said.

The helicopter, which was carrying six passengers and one pilot, was operated by Papillion Airways, a tourism-based operation that bills itself as the "the world's largest aerial sightseeing company" with over 600,000 claimed annual passengers.

KNXV-TV reported that the helicopter passengers were touring the massive park.
